What is the Gospel?
Posted on October 5th, 2011 by Pastor Craig HoustonThe Gospel is the joyous declaration that God is redeeming the world through Christ (Matt 1:21; Luke 1:68; Eph 1:7; Col 1:20), and that He calls everyone everywhere to repent from sin and trust Jesus Christ for salvation (Mark 1:15; Acts 2:38; 17:30).
Each of us has sinned against God (Rom 3:23), breaking his law and rebelling against his rule, and the penalty for our sin is death and hell (Rom 6:23). But because He loves us, God sent his Son Jesus (John 3:16; Eph 2:4; 1 John 4:10) to live for his people’s sake the perfect, obedient life God requires (Rom 8:4; 1 Cor 1:30; Heb 4:15) and to die in their place for their sin (Isa 53:5; Mat 20:28; 26:28; Mark 10:45; 14:24; Luke 22:20; John 11:50-51; Rom 3:24-25; 4:25; 1 Cor 15:3; 2 Cor 5:21; Eph 5:2; Heb 10:14; 1 Pet 3:18). On the third day, He rose bodily from the grave (Mat 28:6) and now reigns in heaven (Luke 22:69; 24:51; Heb 8:1), offering forgiveness (Eph 1:7), righteousness (Rom 5:19), resurrection (Rom 8:11), and eternal blessedness in God’s presence (Rev 22:4) to everyone who repents of sin and trusts solely in Him for salvation.

Labor Together

We Cant All Be Right
Posted on August 13th, 2011 by Pastor Craig Houston“The Christian and the Materialist hold different beliefs about the universe. They can’t both be right. The one who is wrong will act in a way which simply doesn’t fit the real universe.” C.S. Lewis

Loved Reading – Loving the Little Years
Posted on August 10th, 2011 by Pastor Craig HoustonAs a father of 11 children I found this little book, “Loving the Little Years” by Rachel Jankovic and Nancy Wilson to be an absolute delight! Well written and filled with practical advice, but not in the ten things you should do kind of way. Rather this book deals with the essence of discerning parenting, with a heart to help your children grow into gracious, bold, Godly adults. In almost every experience that was shared I could whole heartily relate, saving the ones that only a mother could have, but even then I know my wife had walked those paths before.
As a pastor, I plan on getting this helpful resource into the hands of as many young parents in our church family as possible.

“SAVING LEONARDO” Already a Must Read!!!
Posted on July 20th, 2011 by Pastor Craig HoustonI have just finished the first chapter of “Saving Leonardo: A Call to Resist the Secular Assault on Mind, Morals, and Meaning”. It is already easy to tell that it is a must read for every Christian who desires to raise up a generation that is not duped by the secular ideologies that are pervasive in our culture. I know some may think it premature to give such a hearty endorsement, but I have flicked through the rest of the chapters and also have great confidence in the work and Worldview of Nancy Pearcey who is also the author of “Total Truth” and “How Now Shall We Live” just to name a few. Trust me, you need to read this book!!!
